Spain
In the fourth largest country of the Euro poverty is awful, only surpassed by Romania and Latvia. In 3.3% or 580 000 households, all family members are unemployed, they don't receive unemployment benefit, which is paid two years, and receive no social money, which you get for only for six months. In no other country of the EU did the contrast between rich and poor widen so much as in Spain. This is mainly due to record unemployment and the lack of social network. Already, 23% of the population is without a job. Quadrupled since 2007, the number of forced evictions made many people homeless. At the beginning of the crisis, nearly 26,000 families were evicted, but in 2010 there were almost 94,000. For 2011 they have no figures yet, but it has probably increased significantly. One can assume that more than 350,000 families were evicted from their homes because of unemployment, so that they couldn't pay the mortgage. As banks granted high credits for over-priced houses, many people are without jobs and a home and often have debts of more than 100,000 Euro.
