In my mind, writers have the most potential for being amazing on social media and Pinterest is no exception. The biggest hinderance to that success is being overly self-promotional.
Look at Pinterest as attraction marketing using pins to share your story, garner interest for your books, and to draw your readers to you.
Here are a few ways that writers (and you) can be successful on Pinterest:
1. Show your personality through your pins
2. Create collections of interesting things on your boards.
3. Rename your boards and showcase your creativity.
4. Write an original description for each pin.
5. Be subtle
Don’t pin only things about you or your book. Pinterest is for sharing ideas and inspiration, not selling your wares. Just like all social media, you shouldn’t talk only about yourself. Focus on attracting followers because of your content and curation in order to earn the privilege of promoting your book to them.
