I just returned from a 12 day trip to Japan. I have been to a lot of amazing places in the world, but hands down, this trip photographically was a dream come true. I visited Osaka, Nara and Kyoto. These are some of the oldest places in Japan. The city of Kyoto alone has 17 UN heritage sites. I am still in awe of the things I saw. So be prepared for some photos ;) I hope they can transport a little bit the beauty I have witnessed. Defiantly I will come back.

Kyoto .... here I come

I am so excited. We will travel for the first time to Japan next week. I am so looking forward to photography Kyoto, especially at night. Anybody has some inside tips for places to photography away from the usual tourist track ?

If you are in the neighborhood, I would love to meet and shoot together.

The Classroom ... Google Style

My buddy +Bryan Woodward is in town again, and this time he had a very special treat for me. I was fortunate to be able to photograph some rooms in the +Google Taipei  office.

This is the auditorium on the 77th floor or the Taipei 101. Hands down this is the classroom with the best view in the world ;)

If one day +Google+  would decide to do a Nightphotography workshop, this would be the room. No need to step out of class, just turn the lights off !

Hey guys,

I need some help here. The Taipei 101 is hosting a photography competition. I want to enter 1 to 2 photos, but what should I contribute for a tower that has been photographed to "death" ??

I put up these photos, both the "cliche" shot, as well as some of my favorites which do not necessarily put the 101 in the middle of the photo.

Which one should I submit ?

Please go out and like your favorite 2 photos. Please do NOT like everything. Although I appreciate you are are liking my photos, we need to find a winner here ;)

.... If roads were collapsing all across the United States, killing dozens of drivers, we would surely see that as a moment to talk about what we could do to keep roads from collapsing. If terrorists were detonating bombs in port after port, you can be sure Congress would be working to upgrade the nation’s security measures. If a plague was ripping through communities, public-health officials would be working feverishly to contain it. 

Only with gun violence do we respond to repeated tragedies by saying that mourning is acceptable but discussing how to prevent more tragedies is not. “Too soon,” howl supporters of loose gun laws. But as others have observed, talking about how to stop mass shootings in the aftermath of a string of mass shootings isn’t “too soon.” It’s much too late.....

I just wonder what the reaction would have been if the killer, although his family would be American citizens for generations, happened to be of Muslim belief.

stary, stary night

My buddy +Bryan Woodward is in town again. We always try to get some night shooting done. Right now the weather in taiwan is very cold and rainy, yet he still had a shot in mind. So we were heading out to elephant mountain in taipei to get the classic shot. After countless stairs for 800 meters in the cold and drizzling rain, we found our spot. It was quite a hassle, and our legs hurt like crazy, dragging all our equipment up there, but it was worth it ;) This is NOT the classic view, so watch out his stream for the classic one.
